Magic. Mystery. Murder. MACBETH.

Teller (of Penn & Teller) and Aaron Posner, the famed creators behind 2015’s The Tempest, reunite for Shakespeare’s psychological thriller in the theatrical event of the spring.

Magic, witches, dark moors, and stunning sights will delight and deceive in an electrifying tale of ambition and madness. Dark deeds are afoot in The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare, as Macbeth and his Lady risk all for the ultimate prize. But once they have it, how long can they hold on to the throne? Shakespeare’s haunting drama of political intrigue and personal frailty is brought to light in an immersive visual world where “nothing is but what is not.”

Chicago’s newest performance space, The Yard, called “the greatest new theater in the world” by Chicago Tribune, is home to this supernatural tale, starring Helen Hayes award-winner Ian Merrill Peakes and Chicago leading lady Chaon Cross as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater

800 East Grand Avenue
Chicago, Illinois 60611

Chicago Shakespeare Theater serves as the cultural anchor of historic Navy Pier on downtown Chicago’s lakefront. Sir Peter Hall, Founder of Great Britain’s Royal Shakespeare Company, calls it “one of the best, if not the best, Shakespeare spaces in the world.” The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare introduces a new trend in theater architecture to the city, with audience capacities ranging from 150 to 850. The dynamic design features nine mobile audience “towers” that can be arranged in a wide variety of ways. With each visit, you will come to “expect the unexpected” as the relationship between audience and actor is redefined by the vision of each production’s creative team.
